The History of Higginson Farm Equipment
Our Heritage
A private family-owned company, Higginson Farm Equipment has a heritage of operating in the 4th generation of foresight and experience with farm equipment. This is an admirable achievement that is virtually impossible to duplicate today.
Higginson Farm Equipment has been in Hawkesbury, Ontario for
over 100 years. In the late 1800's George Owen Higginson established the
Massey Harris dealership on Highway 34. Higginson became the established
dealer name in the areas of Hawkesbury and Vankleek Hill, guided by its core
values of integrity, commitment and knowledge. Following many successful
years, the farm machine business continued with his son John
Higginson. John then acquired the International Harvester franchise of the
area, located at 2682 Highway 34 where he resided with his family.
Later, Ian would become the third generation of the Higginson
Business. Ian launched his career and experience by travelling throughout
Ontario with International Harvester, and then later carried on the farm
equipment business. Following the International Harvester era,
Ian built a successful Belarus dealership at 2682 Highway
34. Higginson Farm Equipment now works into the future
with the MTZ Tractor, and Foton Tractor, in supporting customers and expanding dealers. Please contact us for the complete dealer application package.
'We still work by the core values set by the founder, George Owen
Higginson - Integrity, Commitment and Knowledge." Today, with Matthew's IT
support, the Heritage of Higginson Farm Equipment continues
into the fourth generation.
